Mt Diablo Maternity Photos | Walnut Creek

There isn’t a landscape more iconic in Walnut Creek than Mount Diablo. From the many trails that wind around its base, to the way wildflowers fill the surrounding meadows in the spring, most East Bay residents have some memories of the famous state park.

Mt Diablo for a Maternity Photoshoot!

Mt Diablo might seem like a daunting place for a photoshoot, let alone when you are pregnant. Luckily, there are a few places with minimal walking and only a small hill or two that can get you those picturesque views!

Sessions here, while not as far as handicap accessible as other local gems like the Martinez Wharf, are definitely doable for most maternity clients as well as families with young kids.

Tips for Your Maternity Session

If this is your first time visiting Mt Diablo, make sure to keep these tips in mind for your photography session.

1. Poppies are delicate! Admire them from a distance – please do not walk through them for your photos. You will be able to see them from the designated trails. It is actually against California law to damage the wildflowers and the rangers will make sure to keep them protected. [If you want a maternity session in the wildflowers, there are a number of East Bay locations where you can have them in your photos in a non destructive way!]
2. Ticks! If you are planning to walk through the tall grass, make sure to be prepared with a bug repellent. This is my favorite baby safe version!
3. Bring some comfy shoes to wear until you get the your photoshoot location. While there aren’t a ton of hills, you’ll still be glad you aren’t wearing dress shoes!

If Mt Diablo isn’t doable for your maternity session, remember that it’s really all about the connection and the moment. Anytime you are with those you love most, it’s going to be a beautiful and magical moment.
